Zombie Thursdays started as a joke when Alicia had asked her blog about what things she should discuss. She was shocked when she actually got a reply. (Hint: it was Miranda who really responded.) Zombie Thursdays are Miranda's baby and she controls all the content for it. Once and a while, Alicia will include a zombie-related post, but nothing like what you get from her.
And why does Miranda choose zombies? She's still trying to figure that out herself. There has been a recent trend in popular culture-- books, movies, television, comics, etc.-- that focuses heavily on zombies. You can't go anywhere without seeing or hearing something about the undead. Miranda's main goal in reporting on all things zombie related is to try and find out what is causing this trend and, ultimately, to answer, "why has the whole world chosen zombies?"*
*On a more superficial note, Miranda is also just a huge fan of all things zombie and the horror genre in general. You may hear her ramble on a lot about her thesis which focuses on the subject of horror and freak shows.
