In Response to Zombie Sex-tacular-- Why Zombies? Why Not!

Image
Zombie Thursdays is a weekly feature with guest blogger, Miranda. You can read more about her here . Last week's topic was essentially zombie smut (if you're over 18, feel free to go back and read it here ). One of the questions that seemed to emerge in the comments was, "how can you pull off zombie sex?" Our friends the zombies were of course compared to our friends the vampires. One reader mentioned vampires could be believable sexual objects because they can be humanized, but how could a zombie be written that way? I thought this was an interesting point, but I think the answer is quite simple-- really, the same way any non-human character is humanized. Whether it is zombies, vampires, dogs, cats, or animated toasters... we humanize non-human characters all the time. Of course, sex isn't always thrown into the mix with stories, but that brings me to what I feel is an even more pertinent question-- it's not how can you use zombies, but how can you not use th...

Zombie Sex-tacular presents "Hungry for Your Love"

Zombie Thursdays is a weekly feature with guest blogger, Miranda. You can read more about her here . **Today's entry discusses mature themes and isn't acceptable for readers under the age of 18. So don't read on if you're underage or easily offended by sex or published smut. If you choose not to read on, go enter our Race to 150 Contest! It is kid friendly.** Since most of the readers of 'The Pie' seem like writerly types and well-read individuals, none of you are shocked to know that a bunch of Borders bookstores are closing down. I don't really know anyone who doesn't have "their" Borders closing. Even the huge Borders on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, close to where I work, is shutting down. It's a sad day for book readers and buyers and even a sadder day for me because all those Seattle's Best coffee shops are closing and my company, Starbucks, owns them... and well, I'm about ready to sell my stock, so I need it to not go down. B...

Zombie Thur sdays is a weekly feature with guest blogger, Miranda. You can read more about her here . **WARNING** Today's Zombie Thursday blog is NOT intended for anyone under the age of 18. If you're under 18, you should not be reading this. I recommend that you click on this link instead and try your hand at writing creepy gothic haiku . If you're under 18 and choose to ignore my warnings, Alicia and I are not responsible for what you read or see. For everyone 18 and over, please proceed with caution. If you are easily offended, don't read. Also note that while I will not post pictures of the products directly in the blog, the links I am posting are NSFW (NOT SAFE FOR WORK). Wait until you get home. Or, if you are lucky enough to work in a cool place, click away. **END WARNING** Okay, now that I have that disclaimer out of the way... Hello! And welcome to another edition of Zombie Sex-tacular! Honestly, today I was going to post about something completely different (i...

Zombie Sex-tacular! presents "Zombie Sex for the Kiddies"

Zombie Thur sdays is a weekly feature with guest blogger, Miranda. You can read more about her here . That's right! It's time for another addition of Zombie Sex-tacular! But don't worry, today's blog is rated PG for the kids... kind of... I think... Recently, Alicia was displeased that my blog entry about "Haeckel's Tale" was the top read entry on the blog. I argued it was because people had an interest in Clive Barker or the Masters of Horror series. But Alicia thinks it's because people are freaks and just like the zombies getting it on. "Haeckel's Tale" is most assuredly rated R, and although I'm sure that entry was read by some minors, I thought, "shouldn't I write about something for the kids?" And because Alicia's blog focuses a lot on young adult novels, I found a series of books that are not only about sex and zombies... but also young adults! Generation Dead is the first novel in a series of books by au...

Zombie Sex-tacular! presents 'Dance of the Dead'

Zombie Thur sdays is a weekly feature with guest blogger, Miranda. You can read more about her here . Welcome to part two of the Robert Englund Zombie Sex-tacular! Before we get to the zombies, let me tell you a brief story of when I was first introduced to Mr. Englund's awesome greatness. I must have been about eight years old (maybe younger) and I was on a trip with my aunts. We were staying in a hotel and had the television on late at night. There was a show on, just at the very end. I don't think my aunts quite knew what the show was, or else they probably wouldn't have let me watch it (then again, I also have very distinct memories of watching Ghoulies 2 and Killer Klowns... at my aunts' house, so they probably didn't care all that much). On the show, there ended up being a girl who was ripped to shreds by a clawed hand as her mother and sister looked on. That clawed glove belonged to Freddy Krueger and the show was Freddy's Nightmares. I remembered...

Zombie Sex-tacular! presents 'Zombie Strippers!'

Zombie Thur sdays is a weekly feature with guest blogger, Miranda. You can read more about her here . **Today's Zombie Thursday post contains adult content and language. Not that I could stop you, but please don't read if you are underage or are easily offended by things like nudity, sex, stripping, and zombies. You have been warned.** The only thing that's better than one item about zombie sex is TWO things involving zombie sex! That's right, friends, today the Zombie Sex-tacular is back! Last night on the Facebooks, I posed a "trivia" question of sorts to my friends. I asked to see if anyone could guess the celebrity crush I will be writing about today. Not only were there no correct guesses, but those who I thought would be most likely to guess either didn't guess at all or were wrong. But that's okay, no worries. I'll have to come up with a better contest of sorts. Until then, I will be talking about two movies (this week and next) that...

Zombie Prom at Dragon*Con

Zombie Thur sdays is a weekly feature with guest blogger, Miranda. You can read more about her here . Once the world is overrun by zombies, some of the comforts we've come to take for granted will be harder to get. One of these things will certainly be the internet and access to the web. So today, I am writing to you all in true post-apocalyptic fashion-- from stolen internet! It's hard to believe that I have been living in Chicago for exactly two months to the day. And I still don't have my own internet access. Usually I have to go to the nearest Starbucks or Borders to utilize their free WiFi. Every time I have bothered to turn on my own computer in my apartment, I have checked to see what my Airport (fancy Apple term for wireless picker-upper thingie) finds. It always finds about twelve different signals. Unfortunately, all these signals are always password protected. Until now! Someone in the building is actually too stupid to set a password up. So here I am...

Zombie Sex-tacular! presents "L.A. Zombie-- Banned gay porn?"

Zombie Thur sdays is a weekly feature with guest blogger, Miranda. You can read more about her here . Another Thursday is upon us, and here I am sitting in a Starbucks to use their free internet since I still do not have internet of my own. Thank you to everyone who responded to last week's inquiry as to what three items you would bring with you during a zombie attack! Many of your answers were alike, which shows there may be some common thread to what we all hold as the most important things in life... Very interesting! This week we jump back to the 'Zombie Sex-tacular!' Again, as a general warning, the subject matter covered in the Sex-tacular is inherently rated 18+ and could possibly offend readers. So, please proceed with caution. Although I don't have internet yet (if ever), I still have my trusty Blackberry which keeps me up-to-date with all the most important goings-on in the world. Namely, zombie news! But for this week's installment, I didn't even n...

Zombie Sex-tacular! presents "Haeckel's Tale"

Zombie Thur sdays is a weekly feature with guest blogger, Miranda. You can read more about her here . **Today's entry contains very adult subject matter** A couple of nights ago I went out with some friends to eat dinner at Rock Bottom Brewery and then we headed over to a really nice champagne bar for after dinner drinks. I'm not much of a drinker, but decided to partake in several that night. Needless to say, I did end up pretty drunk. I don't think being drunk is a badge of honor, nor do I think it actually increases your level of fun. But I became drunk anyway. I don't become stupid or sloppy. I don't get mean or yell at people. I don't forget everything I said the night before when I wake up the morning after. I'm pretty much the same Miranda, only more outgoing, and more Twitter happy. So, on Tuesday night, at the height of my drunkeness, what do you suppose I started to talk about at length and in detail? My thesis! Yes, even when trashed on t...

What's With All the Kids and Their Zombies and Their Sex?S

Image
Zombie Thur sdays is a weekly feature with guest blogger, Miranda. You can read more about her here . Do you like sex? Do you like zombies? Do you like sex with zombies? Yes? Me too! One bit of zombie culture that seems to have a large corner of the market is the sexualization of the undead. Much like I am actively trying to pinpoint exactly "Why Zombies?" I am also trying to figure out "Why Zombie Sex?" On a very basic and rational level, it makes no sense. But there's clearly something to it, or it wouldn't exist in such abundant levels. I'm working to explore this particular topic in more detail and hope to bring you the best (and the weirdest) in zombie sex! However, much like my sponsor and 'Zombie Thursday' blog host, I agree that this short week has kicked the shit out of me. Therefore, I am putting aside my review/blog on George Romero's Survival of the Dead (which I did in fact see on Tuesday), and instead I am giving you another...
